Munich is the capital city of Bavaria, and birthplace of MCM. It is located on the river Isar, north of the Bavarian Alps, in Germany. The city's motto is "Munchen mag Dich" which means "Munich Loves You". The city is also the home of the world famous Oktoberfest - a tradition started in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.
MCM's logo reflects the rich heritage of its past.
The Munich Lion emblem symbolises Henry the Lion, the father of its
birthplace, Munich.
The laurel leaves pay homage to King Ludwig I's passion for all that was
neoclassical, representing the Greek symbol for victory and achievement
with honour.
The MCM diamond symbolises value, strength and durability without
compromise in beauty. It is inspired by the legend of the Wittelsbach
Diamond.
Purchased by King Philip IV of Spain in 1664, this precious diamond came
into the Wittelsbach family when Leopold I's granddaughter married
Charles of Bavaria. In 2008 the 35.56 carat Wittelsbach Diamond sold for
the highest price ever paid at auction for a diamond.
The strength and majesty of the lion inspired the design for our Stripe Lion cross body bag. Its timeless design and masculine aesthetic make is the perfect man-bag. Thin enough to be used to go out with friends, it is also roomy and will easily fit your everyday work necessities.
Wear it with relaxed fit skinny jeans, a blazer and your favourite tee for a casual work look! As it ages, the colour on this bag becomes deeper and it acquires a beautiful vintage feel.
