All About The Veronika Collection

The Veronika collection is a fairly new addition to the MCM family (she made her grand debut for AW2011). It has since become one of our cult classics and the line has been deployed into many variations. I for one have been under Veronika's spell from the moment I laid eyes on her, and I am lucky enough to own a few of her incarnations. 

Originally inspired by hard structures and sharp edges, Veronika's design is a feminine take on a classic masculine satchel style.  

Three seasons later, the design has evolved and branched out... The minimal, masculine satchel has been endowed with soft leathers, exotic skins, precious crystals and an explosion of colours. 

The SS13 incarnation of Veronika includes a brand new shape: the Doctor Bag, as featured in our new campaign. It is a perfect fit for a short weekend outing and also a great colour accent in a chic office silhouette. It is made of buttery caviar leather in the brightest, sunniest yellow.

What sets the Veronika Doctor Bag aside is that it is not only very beautiful, but also extremely functional, as it takes its inspiration from the ultimate in functionality: the doctor bag. See, my father is a doctor, and so I grew up surrounded by French leather bags and to me they seemed like the ultimate elegance. I would play dress up and alternate between being the doctor and being a very chic lady about town. I think this sums up exactly what the Veronika Doctor Bag is like - a perfect boardroom to ballroom bag!

The inspiration behind the Veronika Doctor bag is of course vintage doctor bags from the 1900 (as seen above), but also the French countryside, a fresh, clean living in a big city. Escape to the seaside on a large yacht, the sunshine warming your face on a hot Summer's evening.
