Spending a month in the countryside means getting a lot of fresh, unpolluted air, exercising regularly (yes, I count swimming in the pool as a sport - hoping to get a Gold Medal there) but also healthy eating as we seem to have fresh fruit and vegetables on tap.
Twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays there is a farmer's market in the center of our little village and so I go, Reversible Shopper in hand to fill up on fresh greens and juicy fruits. Most people use wicker baskets here, but I opted for my Shopper... In order to blend in more, I turned it on the monogrammed side as the colour could almost be mistaken for a little basket from afar. Almost! Sure enough, it is the chicest basket in town!
The best thing about country life is also making friends with the neighbours, especially when they have amazing travel stories to tell AND their very own vegetable garden filled to the brim with giant zucchinis, tasty tomatoes, green salads and all the herbs you could dream of... Add to this some wonderfully sweet and juicy melons (the local specialty) and you have yourself a pretty good detox!
When I got my MCM Shopper, I knew it would come in handy and I was of course aware of its chic factor, but I didn't realise it would become such an invaluable part of my countryside exile! This is the tale of a city girl taking her city bag to the country... and living happily ever after... or at least until the next market!
