Gaucho is a chain of Argentinian Grill restaurants. They have over ten branches in the UK and they are opening soon in Beirut! They pride themselves on the provenance of their products and of course on their quality. A good example of this is that during our meal there, I was informed by our waiter that my main course had been delayed because the chef wasn't totally satisfied with the way the meat was after having been cooked. After a short wait, I was presented with the most delicious, melt-in-the-mouth fillet steak.
A meal at Gaucho is an experience in itself. Of course, like in any restaurant there is an extensive menu, but the unusual part is the meat selection. A waiter comes to the table with a wooden plate adorned with an assortment of raw pieces of beef. He then proceeds to explain what each piece taste like, how they are cooked and what sauce will best complement them. I don't enjoy staring at red meat for too long, but I did enjoy the presentation and it sure gave me a better understanding of what would later be in my plate.
I visited the Leeds branch of Gaucho, which is located in the heart of the business district and offers a pleasant and glamourous getaway from the sometimes overwhelming banking world. The decor is the usual cowhide meets sleek and shiny dark furniture and the clientele is very eclectic.
Prices range from £20 to £35 for mains and meats.
