The Rally Dakar, formerly known as "The Paris-Dakar" is an annual off-road race organised by the Amaury Sports Organisation. Since the rally started in 1978, the race used to be from Paris (France) to Dakar (Senegal) but due to security threats in Mauritania in 2008, the rally was moved the following year to South America (Peru, Argentina & Chile).
This year's rally starts on January 5th and here at MCM we are getting really excited about it as we are involved in this year's edition... An MCM car? No, not yet! But we are the fashion sponsor of the talented and beautiful German driver Stefanie Manns, the only German woman to take part in this year's race.
Stefanie's stats as seen on her website
As one of the few women to take part in this mostly male-dominated competition, she is holding her ground and reached the finish line in 2012 as the fastest woman and 60th overall among 180 drivers. Stefanie started taming engines at the tender age of 15, when most girls are busy painting their nails and thinking about their crushes... Shortly after she came 2nd at Nuerburgring. Here at MCM, we revere and value strong women and our Chief Visionary Officer has made the greatest efforts throughout her career to fight for women's rights worldwide.

We are very proud to be sponsoring this determined and higly skilled 31 year-old woman as she takes part once again in the most famous and perilous long distance desert race in the world. Everyone, please join me in wishing Stefanie a great Rally Dakar 2013!
