As you might already know, last week Berlin went crazy for Fashion Week (and I really mean crazy!)
Germany's capital somehow is a parallel universe: forget everything you have on your mind when it comes to Fashion Weeks around the globe. I really do love those glamorous trips to Paris, New York or Milano, but my hometown knows how to do it in a completely unique way without losing the soul of celebrating fashion as a part of society, and as a true piece of art.
Perhaps that's the reason why Berlin's Fashion Week is more about the people & designers behind-the-scenes, making things happen through get-togethers, networking & natter. It's just a more 'democratic' way of dealing with fashion within a bubble that somehow effects everyone of us season after season.
Of course MCM was part of this fashion spectacle too! MCM was certainly a part of our wardrobe & part of the event agenda. As we've already presented the lovely pictures of the Brunch MCM hosted - today it's all about our personal MCM styles during Berlin Fashion Week in sumer 2013!
Do you remember our most fashionable store for menswear, SOTO? We did a little post about the guys behind when they launched the mind-blowing MCM Sneaker- and Backpack Collection last year. During Fashion Week the Torstraße, where Soto is located, is the ultimate place to be. Trendsetters, influencers and the big bosses of the High Street segment love to go there to socialite and have a short break.
I chose to go for my all-time-favourite MCM handbag in midnight black which has always remained faithfully chic but stunning throughout the seasons. I needed a really spacey companion during these Fashion Week events, and this beauty was quite the perfect companion. I paired it with a bright leopard dress which made a cheeky style-flirt my striped shirt. To round off my look I put on black boots- Hell yeahs, I will love this baby till forever.
I really had to dress comfortably that day... because I was going to meet the one and only Pharrell Wiliiams a few hours later!
This picture probably shows the ultimate Berlin-Signature Style: here it's all about being dressed comfortably, smart and fashionably at the same time. Being "fashionable" in Berlin doesn't necessarily include high heels and a lot of 'bling. The cool kids go for sneakers by day and then flats, open-tied heels or stilettos when the sun goes down. Perhaps your style-scene and the people whom comprises it are also an influence, however Berlin doesn't really stand for 'luxury' and 'glamour' in a traditional sense: it's more about looks that don't look that expensive at first sight, it's about understatement and an urban feeling, and a love for detail. That's the scene where this city's MCM lovers are at.
I love it because every city contains its very own unique trends, fashions and of course, MCM-styles!
My all-time favourite: MCM's beloved Cognac Visetos Drawstring Backpack. During Fashion Week it's ideal as it allows me to travel by bike in between events (because the streets are full of cars and there's always a little delay if you chose to go by cab), and believe-it-or-not many people over here wear those luxurious MCM backbacks. It's a perfect style-match for all fashionistas-on-the-go, and offers enough space for everything we need: laptops, cameras, mobile phones, pen and paper. This is love!
MCM Cognac Visetos Crossbody baby:
If you're now asking yourself why I went for dungarees, here's my explanation: In Berlin you totally can go for it. Since Alexa Chung, the Olsen Twins or Rihanna showed their love for that kind of trousers you can see them everywhere in the streets here. To make it look a bit more dressed I paired them with lace blows and golden chains that match the bag's golden details.
This MCM baby definitely was needed to fulfill the look, to make it look more classy and add a special twist!
All the best and lots of love,
yours Nike Jane
