While black is often fashion’s go-to hue for safety-style, it can look a little out of place in the midsummer heat if not worn properly. The style challenge? Harmonising the cooler tone with the right balance of texture, adornments and a dash of contrasts for added intrigue
For my Sunday-stroll I chose a fairly monochromatic palette refined by clean cuts and a fluid one-piece dress for the right balance between lunchtime-leisure and ‘luxe.
The minimalistic approach to the styling provided a sophisticated canvas in bringing out the boldness of my accessories. Remember: simplicity never fails when making a statement!
If ‘clothes make the man’ do handbags make the woman? To add some impact and a bit of dramatic flair to my dress, I chose MCM’s SS14 Veronika Satchel. With its elaborate snakeskin facade, the accessories update mixes up the textures in my styling while adding a bit of contract in the colouring to keep things interesting
I’m not quite sure why this black long dress makes me feel slightly nostalgic. Maybe it’s the weather, perhaps I’ve caught the fashion-fever or maybe it’s just my thoughts, but I’ve fallen 'handbag-over-heels' for this MCM beauty.
I hope this summer never ends!
