After a week of continuous wet and cold weather at London Fashion Week, my siblings and I headed to Kyrenia on the northern coast of North Cyprus (officially the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) for a week of sun, sea, sand and food.
I brought along my trusty new friend, a stunning pink Armour backpack in python print featuring a rainfall of shiny studs from the Gold Visetos Collection, Autumn/Fall 2013. I styled the backpack with my simple outdoor outfit to beat the heat and humidity - a cropped camo tee, running shorts, paired with my wedged trainers and sunglasses.
''The elaborate& lavish Gold Visetos Collection makes a glamorous debut, unveiling a bevy of ornate shapes exuding bold-chic motifs boasting maximalist sophistication sans ostentation. Designed with an exotic touch, the Gold Visetos Collection features MCM’s newly-debuted Armour Visetos material, featuring a rainfall of shingly studs on a landscape of python-printed materials, fused with MCM’s timeless monogram pattern for a superior aesthetic, guaranteed to inspire onlookers with envy.''
After spending far too much time sunbathing and swimming in the sea, we decided to visit the old capital quickly before departing for London. Lefkosa or North Nicosia, it is said to be the last remaining divided capital in the world after the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the southern portion of the city is the capital city of Republic of Cyprus.
Check out the postcards!
The Buyuk Khan (The Great Inn): It was built between 1576 and 1577, it is home to craft shops, art galleries with traditional folk art and modern pieces, as well as cultural performances.
Spotted a couple of crafters showcasing the art of knitting and mosaic-making.
Fruit cart/trolley, one of the most common sightings in the streets of Lefkosa.
Sampling Turkish coffee and tea at the local outdoor cafe.
A few of my daily essentials stored in my backpack - SPF 30 sunblock for hourly usage, my trusty camera smartphone for quick snapshots and Instagram, mp3 player to beat boredom for road trip. Surprisingly, the backpack fits my giant DSLR camera perfectly.
Don't we all love Cyprus? Now that I have explored North Cyprus, South Cyprus is next...not until next year though.
