This month we celebrated a very special event in Germany's capital: VOGUE's Fashion Nights's Out Berlin! An Event hosted by Vogue - is there anything more to say? Well, yes: Of course MCM was part of the giant celebration in the streets of our vibrant home town. In the spotlight: MCM's Phenomenon Collection.
More than 600 guests visited our Flagship store on Friedrichstraße on the 5th of September from 6 - 12 PM to celebrate Vogue's International Fashion Night's Out together with MCM, and receivied a very special shopping experience, while checking out the latest MCM designs and enjoying some fresh drinks, nice music and a super stylish and lovely crowd!
The Phenomenon collection is one of our oldest and most successful collaborations, designed by Japanese hip-hop artist & Creative Director Takeshi Osumi aka BIG-O. Each season, of course the inspiration and theme varies and AW13 is no exception.
The latest incarnation of our beloved Phenomenon collection shows a witty East-meets-West interpretation of our German heritage craftsmanship mixed with Phenomenon's usual Japanese visual edge. This mix of cultures isn't the only contrast in the line - there is also an interesting dichotomy between the vintage feel of houndstooth fabric/print and the ultra-modern studding and other embellishments. Houndstooth used to be a symbol of prestige during the golden age of travel and I am sure many of our contemporary style nomads will be happy to take it up once more during their travels.
