SS14 VOGUE Photoshoot Part I - The Bauhaus Edit

02-04-2014

Every bag tells a story - whether it's the inspiration behind it, its look or just its colour. We also create our own stories to celebrate each bag in a unique way. Every association, every tiny little something that goes on in your mind is your creative vision and that's why we love to see every look you show us and every editorial we feature in.

This time we teamed up with VOGUE Korea for a photoshoot based on a trilogy of themes. We are very proud to introduce the first part today. Inspired by Bauhaus and the surrounding, we wander through time.

Why Bauhaus? Because it's a German movement that inspired so many important artists and which combines beauty, art and usage:

Bauhaus - "house of construction"- was an art school in Germany from 1919 till 1933 that combined crafts and the fine arts, and was famous for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. Architect Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus look in Weimar. In spite of the fact that its founder was an architect, the Bauhaus during the first years of its existence did not have an architecture department. Nonetheless, it was founded with the idea of creating a "total" work of art in which all arts, including architecture, would eventually be brought together.

The Bauhaus style later became one of the most influential currents in modern design, Modernist architecture and art, design and architectural education - and had a profound influence upon subsequent developments in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design, industrial design, and typography. The school existed in three German cities: Weimar from 1919 to 1925, Dessau from 1925 to 1932 and Berlin from 1932 to 1933, under three different architect-directors: Walter Gropius from 1919 to 1928, Hannes Meyer from 1928 to 1930 and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe from 1930 until 1933, when the school was closed by its own leadership under pressure from the Nazi regime. Today, Bauhaus is one of the best known era for design, architecture and interior - and influences and inspires upcoming trends until now.
