We collaborated with world-renowned London-based contemporary artist Richard Woods to celebrate the Jubilee and festivities of the upcoming Games. The result: the Green Lily Project. In a theatrical ‘tour de force’, Richard Woods digitally reworked his metaphorical and sumptuous ‘Floral Repeat No. 14’, transforming MCM’s Sloane Street Flagship Boutique into an interventive experience between art & architecture
“I wanted to create a spectacular site-specific artwork” remarked Woods. “The green lily-aesthetic is intended to be an intoxicating and all-encompassing environmental project to celebrate a year for and of the British”
The London Flagship Boutique hosted a cocktail reception last night in commemoration of this exciting collaboration displaying Richard Woods-inspired products and designs. MCM will donate the limited-edition Woods-designed handbags featuring some of the artist’s best works to the Royal College of Arts, on behalf of this prestigious celebration in the spirit of empowering the crossroads between fashion and the applied arts. The Richard Woods-inspired MCM luxury handbags will be featured in the RCA’s Winter Gala Fashion show later in 2012.
