The life of a freelancer has its ups and downs - although I am still looking for the downs - but one definite plus for us free internet agents is to be able to work from anywhere in the world... Especially in the Summer months. While London was getting increasingly busy because of the Olympics and since the weather was far from perfect, I decided to up it and leave to spend the whole of August in my holiday home in the Gers (South West of France).

The Gers isn't a very touristy area and is still pretty rural so it makes for a perfect retreat from the fashion world! I spend my time here going to antique fairs, reading books, buying fresh fruit and vegetables at the local farmer's markets to experiment with new recipes, I go to the cafe once a day to drink a "creme" and chat with the locals... The dream! After a busy year, it is just what the doctor ordered.
On my way there, I stopped over in Paris to sign off the final layout of my book which was definitely a high note to start the holiday! It looks wonderful and I can't wait to show it off. But back to the holidays - with all my senses on high alert, I feel so inspired when I am here, it is like I am replenishing my brain full of images, ready to go back to London at the end of the month and write, write and write some more.

Sure enough, no holiday would be complete without my trusted reversible shopper! It now accompanies me on all my travels because of its versatility. It is casual chic at its best! I am plotting a little series of posts where I will show you all the things I carry with my shopper, so stay tuned! For now, I wanted to show you some holiday snaps I took :)

As you can see, my country holiday style is pretty minimal: I live in denim shorts and tee-shirts! This time I literally only took two pairs of denim shorts (one black, one bright green) and a few tee-shirts. Of course I had to also have a few more glamourous bits and bobs for my short stay in Paris, but they feel so out of place here in the countryside that I tend to keep them in the closet. My only concession to glamour and sophistication in the Summer is through my accessories - more specifially my bag - which is why I always bring at least one MCM bag with me. The reversible shopper is perfect as it brings a pop of colour when I wear it in this way but it can also be more classically chic if I wear it with the monogrammed side on show.

Please admire my bag once more before I go!

Much love, Mademoiselle Robot xoxo
