I am currently in the south west of France, in my family country home for the holidays. I like to spend a month there every Summer to catch up on some well needed family time, lazy lunches and afternoons by the pool, reading all the books I can fit in a suitcase (or on my kindle for that matter). The only downside of it is that I miss the city quite terribly when I am down here so I welcomed a 36hrs break in nearby Bordeaux.
Bordeaux is the 6th largest metropolitan area in France, it is a very bourgeois town located on the Gironde on the West coast of France. It was my first "real" time in Bordeaux, having just passed by before. I went because I was invited to stay at the Grand Hotel de Bordeaux which is the only five star hotel in town, ideally located on the Place de la Comedie, opposite the Grand Theatre. My view from there was regal.
As usual when I travel, I like to bring my trusted reversible leopard shopper from our Shopper Project. This time it was my only bag - as I was only staying for one night, I packed all my belongings in there. Below you will find a few photos from my trip as well as addresses of places to visit, eat and drink.

Borrow a city bike and cycle up on the banks of the Gironde all the way to the Quai des Chartrons for a spot of shopping.

Everywhere in the centre of Bordeaux is a feast for the eyes, so walk or cycle and take it all in...
