As you know, we recently celebrated our grand debut in Japan. Yes, that's right, we just opened our very first flagship store in the land of the rising sun. The 300 m2 landmark boutique is located in the luxury shopping district of Ginza on Chuo-Dori Street, Tokyo. If you read the blog yesterday, you also know about our monogrammed Toei bus going around Tokyo as I write this post.
Our great launch party took place at the Audi Forum. We invited a selection of journalists, editors, stylists, bloggers and influencers to celebrate the event with us. They we treated to an exhibition featuring our Heritage collection.
Like all MCM parties, this one was filled with gorgeous people, including local celebrities that I will introduce you to below, but first let's meet the person who provided the entertainment for the evening, one of the first J-Pop stars, shining on the Japanese scene since the 80s, Mr Toshihiko Tahara...
Toshihiko is a powerful performer, so the choice of a red suit was spot on. Look at these moves! Straight from an 80s power video!
All MCM clad, the members of Benjamine really are super-stylin' and checking all of the latest trends at once: leather trousers, sports-chic, prints and just a dash of retro.
A girl after my own heart, using her MCM shopper to brighten up an all black outfit. I love the grungy styling, with chunky boots, sheer tights and a plaid shirt. The 90s are here to stay.
LEAH & OGAWA MITSUKO
Riviera chic, Tokyo style means cute dresses and printed tops with chunky shoes. It could be something straight off the London catwalks, but infused with a bit of Japanese quirkiness it becomes even cooler.
This outfit is a masterclass in twisting classics. What could be seen as a librarian outfit is given an edge with the MCM backpack and lace-up boots. This girl works at the library of style, obviously. We should all borrow the same book.
Sexy and sultry all in black, with a masculine bag and flat Chelsea boots to keep things interesting. It is all about contrasts when it comes to styling, people.
Classy, sophisticated and slightly on the sexy side with this black satin mac that will keep you guessing all night: is it a dress, is she wearing a mac?
PAUL, TATSUYA, SHINGO YASUDA
I love how nonchalant this three are. You know, just three cool guys hanging out. All they need now are MCM skateboards! Imagine that: MCM board, how cool!
I am telling you now, I will still be thinking about this perfect black wool coat this Winter. And those boots? A picture of sartorial perfection and the perfect backdrop for this Heritage Visetos shopper.
I like a man who can mix his classics with sportswear seamlessly. I also like a man with enough aplomb to carry a clutch. Game, set and match for handsome Rihito.
Great demonstration of the power of contrasts in fashion, once again. Here the ripped jeans and flat boots are given an evening spin thanks to a long printed coat and MCM bucket bag.
Having fun with fashion and experimenting is another key to a great style. Here Taiki showcases it perfectly by transcending gender codes and adopting items of clothing traditionally reserved for women. He looks great in his skirt and pink Stark backpack.
